Rasheim Ali Abd. WRIGHT (Jordan). Preliminary round, 2009 FIBA Asia Championship Men, Tianjin, China. 07 August 2009.
TIANJIN (FIBA Asia Championship) - Having scored a morale-boosting win against Lebanon last night, West Asian powerhouse Jordan took Indonesia in their stride and cantered through to a 105-47 win in Group D game on Friday.
Jordan are now 2-0 in their win-loss, while Indonesia are 0-2 having lost to UAE on Thursday.
Zaid Alkhas nursed his injured ankle – “I think another two days including the off day,” he said – and coach Mario Palma rested Sam Daghles for the whole game and yet Jordan had no trouble in quashing whatever little challenge Indonesia posed.
Palma gave his bench all the feel of the court – using his starters only to give the bench a breather – after taking a 21-17 lead to end the first quarter.
Islam Abbas made the best use of the opportunity of the extended time on court. Abbas, played the role of spearhead with his younger brother Zaid Abbas resting and scored a game-high 22 points.
Mohammad Hadrab had a 7/11 record on the field and finished with 16 points.
No Indonesian player scored in double-digits.
