TIANJIN (FIBA Asia Championship) - Qatar assured themselves of an improvement in their standings beating Philippines 83-65 in the 5-8 Classification on Saturday.
Qatar, who finished seventh at the 2007 FIBA Asia Championship at Tokushima, will now play against the winners of the Korea-Chinese Taipei game in the fifth place play-off.
Philippines are already sure of finishing better than their ninth place in the last edition.
Saad Ali led the scoring for the game with 23 points starring in Qatar’s win.
Mustafa Elsayad contributed 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Saleem Abdulla also had a double-double – 11 points and 12 boards.
Kerby Raymundo was the highest scorer for Philippines with 12 points.
